August in Review

August has been a never-ending countdown to school. I've tried to get the kids out of the house and do more activities with them as they got more riled up. We went to the library every other week. We did our monthly FRG meeting, steering committee meeting, and Run 4 Resilience. We saw Planes in theaters and even went to the NYS Fair in Syracuse. Plus I did a readathon. *phew* September is probably my favorite month, not because it's my birthday, but because of the weather and school starting (not as a mom necessarily - I loved going back each year as a kid)...AHHHH! :)

Nail Files #87

OPI Cajun Shrimp, OPI Alpine Snow, and Revlon Creme Brulee

Inspired by this pin, I wanted to do a little variation and use some colors that I have had sitting around. I got the metallic rose gold from Bri during one of our swaps. It was perfection. Went on beautifully and didn't chip at all. It was so pretty too! Cajun Shrimp is a fun bright red with just the hint of orange (the color isn't accurate in the pics).

Deployment Tales: A Cake a Month

Last deployment, we did a kiss jar and the kids ate a kiss a day for the whole 12-month deployment. With Matthew having 8 cavities, I really didn't think this was a good idea this time around. Plus it was horrible to have to count out 730 Hershey kisses. I thought it'd be fun to do a cake/cupcakes for each month's anniversary.

I have way more cake recipes saved than I should and not enough occasions to make them. So I let the kids pick from my cakes and cupcakes boards for what cakes we'd be having over the next few months. For May, we had Pina Colada Cupcakes.

For June, we had Better Than Oreo Poke Cake and To Die For Carrot Cake for July.

I'll be sharing some more after another few months - it's seriously the best idea I've ever come up with :) If I say so myself - lol

Nail Files #86

So I have this thing with pink polish...I have my nail polish stash in a 3 drawer container. The top is all pink polish (the middle other colors and the bottom is glitters). I hope to do a dupes post of my pinks at some point.

Sinful Colors 24/7 and China Glaze Luxe & Lush

So I wanted to take a break from trying new polishes and designs and what not...and of course I go to my favorite color: pink. I wanted to do neon for summertime (I did this back in June) and used the Hunger Games collection glitter to go with it. I love the flaky glitter!

Life Happenings & Tummy Grumblings

Our last week has been pretty uneventful. The only thing we really had going on was our Run 4 Resilience on Wednesday. This was the last one for the kids since they will be in school for the last two. We walked 4 miles in the rain and wind.

I snapped this picture of the kids when we were listening to SSG Boyle speak on self-awareness. They are just too cute sometimes.
