Books or Bust #7

In lieu of the recent drama, I will no longer participate in the Sunday meme, In My Mailbox, to share books I've gotten. I will now be sharing my purchases, giveaway wins, etc. through my own meme called Books or Bust (may eventually turn into a linky party or I may link up with others). All previous IMM have been changed and unlinked.

{Giveaway Wins}
From Literary Exploration: I chose Shatter Me and because she is a big sweetheart and totally sent the package to herself on accident, Anna also sent me an Enchanted ARC to make up for the late arrival. Plus a pin and a sticker! :)

{Purchases}
Walmart had a bargain books shelf and I jumped at the chance for Samantha Bee's I Know I Am, But What Are You? for $2.97 and Flirt by Laurell K. Hamilton for $3.97.

{NetGalley}
Last week I joined Net Galley and I'm pretty excited. I will be cooking out of the cookbooks (one I received last week) over the next two weeks. I'm hoping to read a few of the galleys asap...before they are released.

Top Ten Tuesday #6

Today's theme is Top Ten Favorite Characters
{in no particular order}
  1. Alice Cullen from the Twilight Saga: She is so much like a fairy - she's quirky, fun, and full of energy. But she is also incredibly protective of those she loves. She was hands-down my favorite character in the saga.
  2. Zsadist from Black Dagger Brotherhood series: Oh, tortured soul. I was waiting and waiting for Z's story and I was sucked in when it happened (book 3). I always like the dark, "broken", bad boys in stories. They are like the underdog and I always root for them.
  3. Hannah Swenson from Hannah Swenson series: Hannah is so awesome. I cannot stress this enough. She's a fellow Minnesotan and she has a cookie shop. She's sassy and stays true to who she is. She's not a girly girl, but a guy's girl.
  4. Sirius Black from Harry Potter series: The first time I ever cried reading a book was over his death. It was devastating. He was only in a few of the books, but what he did in that short time was insanely memorable and heartwarming, etc.
  5. Albus Dumbledore from Harry Potter series: How can you not love Dumbledore? He's one of the best characters of the literary world. He is probably my favorite book character ever.
  6. Eric Northman from Southern Vampire Mystery series: SWOON! Part of the swoon may be due to Alexander Skarsgard's part in this character, but even in the books, so hard not to love a bad boy! :P AND he's a Viking. This helps :)
  7. Prince Ash from Iron Fey series: Another mysterious "bad boy" type, the Winter Prince! I wasn't necessarily the most fond of Meghan...and I was totally in love with Puck's character until Ash came into the picture.
  8. Anita Blake from Anita Blake series: She is easily one of the most kickass women in the literary world. AND she's surrounded by amazing men.
  9. Nathaniel from Anita Blake series: In some ways, his character reminds me a little of Zsadist now that I reflect back on him. He such a special person in Anita's life and a very, very important part too.
  10. Jean Claude from Anita Blake series: The "Eric Northman" of St. Louis! But really...he is much like Eric Northman. Love it!
Special mentions: Moishe (Hannah Swenson series), Crookshanks (Harry Potter series), and Grimalkin (Iron Fey series). These are all cats...and I love them. That's right...even the crazy cat lady has some crazy book cat love! :)
