October in Review

If y'all have noticed, my posts are more book-related lately. I've decided to finally "let go" of Fortune as a regular posting blog. I've started to run out of things to talk about and keeping up with two blogs is getting so overwhelming, as is trying to keep up with reviewing books. I'm not going to really implement the change until January. I am not going to completely dissolve Fortune. I will be posting my TBR and Upcoming Releases, occasional Top Ten Tuesdays, and using Fortune for readathons. My life updates and Netgalley book reviews, maybe even Ipsy/product reviews will be posted on Fridays as a "meme" type deal on Fantastical.

Nail Files #95

While in Claire's looking for some earrings for Cami, I found these super cute Tribal glue-on nails and HAD to get them. They were cheaper than the Sally Hansen nail stickers (for some reason, I'm totally blanking on what they are actually called). Anyways, as usual, I had to trim them down a ton to not look crazy on my fingers. I got a ton of compliments on them. Lots of people asked where I had got them done, which always makes me happy when I wear the cheapo DIY glue-on nails. I don't have any issue with them tearing up my nails either, so that's also a plus :)

Top Ten Character Names I Love

I thought that I would have a really hard time with this one, but I ended up filling up the list quickly. I didn't realize there were so many names I could recall that were unique that I loved. In no particular order...
  1. Karou [Daughter of Smoke & Bone series] - my Kindle's name is Karou :)
  2. Lilac [These Broken Stars trilogy] - I really love how old-timey this name is and think it's really cool with how futuristic the novel is.
  3. Graylee [Spellbound trilogy] - Even though I decided not to finish the series after finishing the second, I really love the name Graylee.
  4. Daenarys [A Song of Ice and Fire series] - hands-down my favorite name in the series.
  5. Spencer [Pretty Little Liars series] - I really love boyish names that fit for girls.
  6. Warner [Shatter Me series] - You don't really hear this name a lot for boys and I like it.
  7. Deuce [Razorland trilogy] - Such a BAMF name for a girl and it really fits her personality and strength.
  8. Marina [All Our Yesterdays] - part of this may be the whole mom thing where I am in love with old Marina on Fresh Beat Band, but!
  9. Grimalkin [Iron Fey series] - Had to include my favorite kitty cat. I will be naming a future cat Grimalkin...mark my words.
  10. Tobias [Divergent trilogy] - When I was a kid, Tobias was one of my favorite boy names and I so badly wanted to name my first Tobias and nickname him Toby.
And there you have it!

What are your favorite book character names? Do any of you with ereaders, name your devices after book characters?

Nail Files #94

Essie Tart Deco

I've been wanting this one for a long time and I finally just went ahead and got it. I don't know if you can see my leggings, but they are a crazy pattern and have just a teensy bit of the same color in it. Made me squeal with joy. I love the color so much. I do, however, have a question for those who use Seche Vite for top coat....

Have you found that Seche changes the color of the polish? In these pictures the color was fine, but towards the end of my wear time I noticed that if I peeled off the layer of top coat, the Tart Deco was the original color underneath, but a different color with the top coat. I guess I should say it doesn't change the color, so much as mask the true color. Also the stuff stinks like the non-Sharpie super permanent markers. I'm not sold on it so far LOL

Bursting with LUV [and a giveaway!]

So a while back, Amber, picked me for her Random Act of LUV and I was introduced to LUV Footwear. LUV Footwear is this amazing brand that's all about inspiration and creativity. I was so excited to get my hands on a pair of these flats...and then promptly get my feet in them. What Amber didn't realize is that she created a monster. Soon after getting my first pair, I applied to be a LUV ambassador.
My first pair, Aztec Black.

So I'm hoping to stay off the computer and do that. 11PM Read a ton of TWD today, but barely made a dent in Spider's Bite. I also did a ton of homework and more cleaning around the house. I plan to finish Spider's and start on Birthmarked tomorrow. Possibly pick up The Last Olympian as well, since I checked it out at the library today :)

Nail Files #93

Essie Don't Sweater It

This is from the fall 2013 collection and my new fave polish. It's a more purplish brownish grey which is really awesome because it kind of matches what shade you want it to be.

I also finally got some Seche Vite, but I'm unsure of my feelings of it. It doesn't seem to be mindblowingly different than what I've tried. It smells funky. Also I'm not sure yet, but I think it's changing what the shade actually appears to be. It did it with Tart Deco for sure. It muted its brightness. :/
