My Most Anticipated Releases for June

Only a few sequels are on this list but I am definitely most excited about them. I have My Plain Jane preordered and it cannot come soon enough. I appreciate the softness of most of these covers too.

Top Ten Best Female Character Names

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. More information here.

Pretty self explanatory here, but I'm sharing my favorite bookish female character names today! Top three are my all-time favorites and the rest are recent favorites.
  1. Karou (Daughter of Smoke and Bone) - this is my all-time favorite name ever. This is my Kindle's name...when I play Sims or Skyrim, this is my character's name. I don't know why I became so attached to it, but I loved the book and the character...and I LOVE this name.
  2. Scout (To Kill a Mockingbird) - from the very moment I fell in love with the book, I fell in love with the name, Scout. I loved that it was boyish but it was a little girl. I was a tomboy growing up and hated my name and loved Scout's. It was just perfect.
  3. Hermione (Harry Potter) - I can't think of another character with a more recognizable name. She, of course, is my favorite character in Harry Potter, but also..I had never heard her name prior to the books and haven't heard her name after - in reference to another character. Hermione is Hermione. There is only one (in my mind) :)
  4. Emika (Warcross) - I just love how this name sounds. It's feminine, but kind of badass too.
  5. Citra (Scythe) - I also really like this name and I'm not sure why. It's pretty unique.
  6. Alosa (Daughter of the Pirate King) - Another name I just love! It's the perfect name for a strong pirate lady. I love how it flows.
  7. Wilhelmina/Wil (The Glass Spare) - Another kind of boyish name. I really enjoy "boy" names for girls.
  8. Valor (Prisoner of Ice and Snow) - I like when words are turned into names and Valor is the perfect name for the main character of this book. She is incredibly brave. It's SUCH a fitting name.
  9. Penelope (Awkward) - This name always makes baby name lists for me but alas I am done having kids. This means I will probably end up with a cat named Penelope.
  10. Amaranthine/Mare (Of Fire and Stars) - I couldn't NOT love this after reading the following:
“For the love of the Six, don't call me that. Just Mare. Yes, like a horse. Stupid, I know, but I can't stand Amaranthine. What a ridiculously overlong and pretentious collections of syllables.”

Bout of Books 22 [Days 5-7 Progress + Finish Line]

Only three days left for Bout of Books 22! Say it isn't so! :( I always dread the end of this week because it means it'll be forever until the next BOB.

In the first four days, I've read Renegades, Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony, Ace of Shades, and Ship It. I have finished 2 books, started 1 new book (Ship It), and read a total of 242 pages and listened to 17 hr and 51 min of audio book.

[DAY 5 PROGRESS]
Ship It by Britta Lundin - started at 15%, ended at 20% (19 pages)

TOTAL: 19 pages // 0 books finished

READING UPDATE: I ran some Twitter sprints last night and will probably try to do some today at some point. I am loving both books, but especially Ship It. It's like Fangirl meets Geekerella.
------------------------------------------
[DAY 6 PROGRESS]
Ship It by Britta Lundin - started at 20%, ended at 21% (3 pages)

TOTAL: 3 pages //  0 books finished

READING UPDATE: I got distracted yesterday by the interwebs, so I'm hoping to be a little more on task today and read! :) I would like to at least get to 75% of Ace of Shades by the end of this readathon.
------------------------------------------
[DAY 7 PROGRESS]
Ship It by Britta Lundin - started at 21%, ended at 43% (84 pages)

TOTAL:  84 pages //  0 books finished

READING UPDATE: I did that thing again where I got distracted by social media and internets LOL. I plan to finish STRONGLY today.
------------------------------------------
[FINISH LINE]

TOTAL: 384 pages + 17 hr 51 min // 2 books finished

FINAL THOUGHTS: I finished 2 books this readathon and I'm so happy with that. I was hoping to get further into Ace of Shades but didn't get there. That's OKAY THOUGH. I have 10 more days to read in May and I'll be trying to finish it along with some of the other books I've started. Ship It will probably be the next book I finish because I am hooked on it. :) Hope everyone else had a great reading week! How many days until the next Bout of Books?!

Bout of Books 22 [Days 1-4 Progress]

I can't believe it's time for another BOB readathon!?! I am (once again) splitting my progress posts into two posts. I'm looking forward to meeting my goals and hope that everything I read is wonderful. I also hope that everyone else has a great reading week with AMAZING books all-around! I am going to be an expert again (I dunno how many times this is for that) because I just love being a cheerleader for my fellow readathoners :)

#AYearAThon [May TBR]

Each first full week of the month, a #AYearAThon readathon is held and there are themes and challenges for each month. In the month of May, the theme is REREADS with the challenge of reading graphic novels. It runs from May 7 to 13.

Updated on 5/14: This readathon didn't go too terribly even though we were crazy busy during the week. Cami was diagnosed with strep on Monday and we had school events on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. I read a few pages of Harry Potter, all of Brave, and, although not for the readathon, read some of Imperfect Justice by Jeff Ashton.

Total books finished:1
Total pages read: 7 + 248 + 194 = 449

April Book Haul

April Book Haul #bookhaul #haul #books

Here I am just trying to keep my hauls low and not succeeding at all. I picked up 16 books in the month of April, which is 1 less than last month. I have read 2 of them. Only 3 of the books were physical copies. Of the 13 non-physical copies, 3 were audio books from the library, 4 were Netgalley books gifted for review, 1 is a Kindle First book, and 5 were purchased on Amazon.

May Monthly TBR & Challenge Updates

My May TBR is small because my plan is to catch up on my past TBRs and read a little more freely to prevent a slump. I was able to finish 8 books in April, which is wonderful (although literally none from my TBR). I, however, am in the middle of 7 books. I am waiting on the audio book for It at my library and I would like to pick up and finish The Cruel Prince, ACOTAR, Nevernight, Unwind, Heart of Iron, and Mr. 60%. When I'm done with some of these books, I would like to pick up some Netgalley books that are going to be published soon.

My Tentative TBR for May:
  • Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Illustrated edition) by JK Rowling
  • Brave by Svetlana Chmakova
