September 2025 TBR

Update for last month:  I read a majority of the books for the month in the first full week and then read nothing after the 12th. So I didn't really get through much. Granted I did still finish 5 books and that's great, but I just needed a break.

Goals for this month: In September, I'm recycling my full August TBR List because I didn't read them. (shrug)

August 2025 TBR

Update for last month:  July was back to more of normal reading month for me and I even finished half of my TBR. I ended up finishing 10 books and read quite a few Kindle books out of all of those which is also a newer goal for me.

Goals for this month: In August, I'd just really like to finish these books lol. I'm at the point where I may stop posting TBRs each month because I clearly don't ever stick to them or read the books that I pick out. We're over halfway through the year and I've got so many backlogged TBR books.

My TBR for August:
  • Well, Actually by Mazey Edding (Kindle/Netgalley)
  • First Time Caller by B.K. Borrison (Physical)
  • Cat Daddy by Jackson Galaxy (Kindle)
  • The School of Good and Evil by Soman Chainani (Kindle)

July 2025 TBR

Update for last month:  June was actually a fairly okay month but I didn't read for a lot of it and instead spent a lot of it binging Drag Race with my daughter after her tonsillectomy. I've also done a lot of training at work so I'm so exhausted that I've been falling asleep super quick at night and also not listening to audiobooks at work.

Goals for this month: In July, I'm going way back to the beginning of the year to try and start getting the oldest of this year's TBR read. I should at this point just stop making TBRs because I'm so bad at sticking to them LOL

June 2025 TBR

Update for last month: May was super packed with so much stuff and I was tired. Not much reading happened. I did finish 4 books (only 1 from my TBR) so I'm just going to keep recycling my TBR books for the most part. I'm still reading more Kindle books than I have in a long time and would like to continue that trend going forward.

Goals for this month: In June, I'm recycling most of my May TBR and adding a hockey romance that I have an ARC of to the list. Let's see what happens :)

May 2025 TBR

Update for last month: April was a quieter month for me for reading. I actually read more Kindle than I have in a long time and that's slower going than audiobook while I work. I finished 8 books and DNF'd 1. I read 2 books from my TBR and have 2 remaining. Plus 2 from Jan, 2 from Feb, and 4 from March (one of which is repeating this month).

Goals for this month: In May, I'm going for romance because I'm much more successful when I'm reading romance books - whether they are rom com, smutty, historical, etc. It's just the mood I'm in.

April 2025 TBR

Update for last month: Another month of me not sticking to my TBR but to be fair, I feel like I didn't read very much in March either so that was definitely one of the issues. I finished 9 books and have all 4 remaining from my March TBR. I have 2 from Jan and 2 from Feb as well.

Goals for this month: In April, my goal is to read my entire TBR and maybe a couple from past months as well.

March 2025 TBR

Update for last month: I'm terrible at sticking with my TBR. I finally finished the Kindle book that I started in January and have moved onto another that I just am struggling to get through. I have listened to tons of audiobooks so I did finish 18 books and DNF'd 1 book in February. I have 3 books remaining of the 4 books on my TBR.

Goals for this month: In March, I am continuing with my new TBR prompts: high priority, Netgalley, older hauled, and newer hauled. I think I may have slightly more success this month because 2 are romance and one is a middle grade book.

February 2025 TBR

Update for last month: Why is January always 2,308,591 days long? I did not finish any of the books on my TBR but managed to read 16 books. I have started 3 of the 4 books on my TBR, so I guess that's progress?

Goals for this month: In February, I am chugging along with my new TBR prompts: high priority, Netgalley, older hauled, and newer hauled. I'm very much struggling with genres that aren't romance. I think my brain just needs a break from the real world, so I am a little nervous for my non-romance books on the TBR.

January 2025 TBR

Happy New Year, everyone! I'm excited for a new year of reading - especially after a really successful 2024. In 2024, I finished 173 books - a new all-time high for me! I loosely participated in a few other challenges and that inspired me to do a few more in 2025.

So for the new year, I have a Goodreads goal of finishing 100 books. I am informally participating in the ABC challenge and 50 States challenge, as well as, a book bingo I cobbled together and a reading challenge I found on Read with Allison with different prompts for the year. These are all low pressure but I hope it will help me when I get stuck on what to read next.

For the month of January, I am making a TBR of 4 books (which will most likely be the standard going forward). I'm going to try and read a high priority book, a Netgalley book, an older hauled book, and a newer hauled book each month. I would also love to focus on trying to read a physical book and the rest either physical or Kindle. Last year, I read so many audiobooks that I would like to have a better balance this year.

My TBR for January:

  • Wicked by Gregory Maguire (Physical/Reread)
  • Just Our Luck by Denise Williams (Kindle/Netgalley)
  • Cat Daddy by Jackson Galaxy (Kindle)
  • Almost Surely Dead by Amina Akhtar (Kindle)

December 2024 TBR

In November, I read 18 books and again, didn't finish everything on my TBR. I have 2 books left to read and they are going to be on December's TBR. In addition, I'm adding a book I picked up and read 2 pages of that is sitting on my desk that I want to finish AND a library book as well. I'm not sure if I have said anything in the last few months, but I'm at 162 books finished this year - which is the highest I've ever done!

My TBR for December:

  • She, Myself, and I by Emma Young (Kindle - Netgalley)
  • The Midnight Orchestra by Jessica Khoury (Hardcover)
  • Trixie & Katya's Guide to Womanhood by Trixie & Katya (Hardcover)
  • Josh and Hazel's Guide to Fake Dating by Christina Lauren (Kindle - Library)

November 2024 TBR

I made it out of October alive but did not finish the 2 books on my TBR despite finishing 14 books. I am a quarter of the way through Recommended so it is staying on my TBR. I'm adding so old books to my TBR as well as one from the library that I need to read asap. November is not as busy but still has plenty of events, so we'll see how it goes!

My TBR for November:

  • The Midnight Orchestra by Jessica Khoury (Hardcover)
  • Recommended For You by Laura Silverman (Kindle - Netgalley)
  • She, Myself, and I by Emma Young (Kindle - Netgalley)
  • A Fate Inked in Blood by Danielle L. Jensen (Kindle)

October 2024 TBR

October is our busy band month, so I'm keeping my TBR short and sweet. Last month, I read everything on my TBR (woohoo!!) and then some, finishing 14 books. I read more Kindle books in September than I have in a long time which is one of my goals. This month I have two overdue Netgalley reads (both Kindle books) that I would like to finish and then we'll see where the month goes from there. It would be really nice to read some paranormal or spooky reads for the season!

My TBR for October:

  • Recommended for You by Laura Silverman (Kindle - Netgalley)
  • Engagement & Espionage by Penny Reid (Kindle - Netgalley)

September 2024 TBR

August went by so quickly and I am, of course, full force into fall mode. So I tried to pick out a few seasonal reads for September. I included 3 Netgalley books and 1 Library book on this list. I have been reading more ebooks lately, so I'm hoping I can continue that trend. I started listening to more audiobooks when I started working in 2021 and it became really hard for me to read in bed at night because I was so tired. But I've been making more time before I'm tired to read. I still listen to lots of audiobooks while I work so I can do more than one thing at a time and not go crazy, but I'd love to read more Kindle books and eventually start picking back up physical books too!

My TBR for September:

  • Dating You, Hating You by Christina Lauren (Kindle - Library)
  • The Witch Hunt by Sasha Peyton Smith (Kindle - Netgalley)
  • The Witch Hitch by Elizabeth Bass (Kindle - Netgalley)
  • Illicit Temptations by Katee Robert (Kindle - Netgalley)

August 2024 TBR

I'm so excited to "announce" that I have completed my updated Goodreads goal for the year in July. I have hit 100 books and will not be upping it any further. I started the year at 75, switched it to 100, and from here on out, it's just seeing how much further I can go past it! In July I also went back through my TBR shelves on Goodreads. I'm still technically working on it but I have removed all the books that I am no longer interested in reading. So I just feel like August is a fresh start!

So instead of recycling my TBR from past months, I'm adding new books and I will still hopefully get to the older TBR books too. This month, I have 3 books I've purchased over the years (1 Hardcover, 2 Kindle) and then one book for review that is St. Martin's Press, so I will not be posting about it. This is a very backlogged review book from a few years ago.

My TBR for August:
  • Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson (Hardcover)
  • Anatomical Shape of a Heart by Jenn Bennett (Kindle)
  • Heir to Thorn and Flame by Ben Alderson (Kindle)

July 2024 TBR

I'm currently making this post a week ahead as I'll be traveling for a bit in the end of June and beginning of July and I want to keep my schedule. I had a pretty good reading month in June. I finished 12 books and DNF'd 1. I'm most likely going to finish another book or two before July starts due to the whole traveling thing. I'm flying for the first time ever and plan to read. I'm still really far ahead on my Goodreads goal (39 books ahead of my new goal of 100).

In July, I should have one hold coming through and I still have 2 books from May that I didn't read in June. I still want to read those ASAP and I added another Netgalley book that I've had on too many TBRs over the years!

My TBR for July:

  • Loud by Drew Afualo (Kindle - Netgalley)
  • The Cursed Sea by Lauren DeStefano (Physical - Purchased)
  • Powerless by Lauren Roberts (Audio - Library)
  • She, Myself, and I by Emma Young (Kindle - Netgalley)

June 2024 TBR

I did another heavy reading month with the help of Ice Planet Barbarians and audiobooks and finished 23 books in May. I recently changed my Goodreads goal from 75 to 100, which was perfectly timed as I am at 74 books read for the year now!

In June, I have at least one library hold coming through and then I'd like to read the two books left from my May TBR. I couldn't really think of a book I wanted to add, so I'm doing a 3 book TBR. None of these are audiobooks so I think it's reasonable to start here.

My TBR for June:

  • House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas (Kindle)
  • Loud by Drew Afualo (Kindle - Netgalley)
  • The Cursed Sea by Lauren DeStefano (Hardcover)

May 2024 TBR

So I went a little wild in April and finished the Elemental Assassin series, the Diviners series, and decided to read book 2 of Ice Planet Barbarians. Then I discovered that the majority of that series is available for free if you have an Audible membership (aka doesn't use your credits) and I started binging that. With that being said, I finished 26 books in April. I don't think I have ever finished that many books in a month...ever. I'm at 51 books for the year (26 ahead at the moment), so I definitely think I'll reach my goal of 75 :)

In May, I want to read some Netgalley books that will be publishing in the next few months. I have a library book I'd like to finish (and maybe book 3 will be available from my holds list - fingers crossed). And, of course, I'd love to read a super backlist book as well!

April 2024 TBR

Last month, my goal was to finish some books that had been on multiple TBRs for a while and I finished 3 and am more than halfway through another. The final one is on my TBR for this month. However with that being said, I started reading some of my books in a series last month and also started some new series. Now the motivation is striking to finish some series. So in April, I am focusing on reading the remainder of the Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep. I have books 16 through 19 in audiobook format, which means they will be read this month! Then the rest is just up to mood and honestly, whatever is ready for borrowing at the library off my holds list.

So far this year, I've finished 25 books (a third of my goal of 75) with 9 of those being last month. I feel pretty good about that pace and I'm really hopeful that I'm going to knock out a lot of old TBRs and finish some series this year!

My TBR for April:

  • Snared by Jennifer Estep
  • Venom in the Veins by Jennifer Estep
  • Sharpest Sting by Jennifer Estep
  • Last Strand by Jennifer Estep
  • Always Jane by Jenn Bennett

March 2024 TBR

I may be shooting myself in the foot a little here, but February was not a good reading month. I was talking about it with a fellow reader that February is either the month I read 2 books or 48, there is no in between (obviously exaggerating). This year it just so happens that it was a slower reading month (with only 6 reads) and I also only read one book off my TBR which is not ideal.

So the shooting myself in the foot comes with adding all my unread TBR from January and February for my March TBR instead of picking new books. I want to read these. I need to read them. I have 2 physical books and 3 ebooks to read. Fingers crossed I can knock out my TBR while still mood reading.

My TBR for March:

  • Soul of Stars by Ashley Poston (started in January)
  • Always Jane by Jenn Bennett (Jan)
  • For Butter or Worse by Erin La Rosa (Feb)
  • Let's Talk About Love by Claire Kann (Feb)
  • From the Jump by Lacie Waldon (Feb)

February 2024 TBR

January was a bit on the hectic side and I finished one of the books on my TBR - started 2 more of them though. However, I did finish 9 books. I'm on target right now to hit my goal of 75 books for the year, so I can't complain.

For February, I decided my TBR is going to be romances. I picked a physical book and 3 Kindle books again with the ebooks being Netgalley books. Let's see if I can complete my TBR this month!
