October 2022 Book Haul

I was super busy this month and that meant not hauling a lot. Not the worst problem to have. I hauled 6 books, 1 physical, 1 for review, and 4 library books. I have read 3 of the 6 and am currently reading 1 of the 3 left. I am now at 67% read of what I've hauled this year. Total unread books is 31 - would love to get that to 25 by year end, but we'll see what happens :)

Top Ten Series I'd Like to Finish

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. More information here.

I could not resist this prompt because I am forever tracking series and trying to get my overall number down. I'm currently in the middle of 42 series....21 of them are completed. I could cut that number in half if I actually read all the completed series. I want to say my goal is to get under 25 series in 2023. We'll see how that goes. But here are 10 that I would love to complete (and hopefully sooner rather than later):

  1. Elemental Assassin by Jennifer Estep: I started this in 2013 and have 4 books left (one of which I have a galley of that should have been read and reviewed years ago but we aren't going to talk about that). I would just love to finish this series out.
  2. The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater: My goal is to actually reread the first two books because I started them so long ago that I don't really remember the plot or characters. So I'd also love to keep up the momentum and finish it out.
  3. Winston Brothers by Penny Reid: I like these books for quick pick-me-up romances and I only have 4 left of the 7. They are usually quick reads.
  4. The Delphi Trilogy by Rysa Walker: I really enjoyed the first book and it's a completed trilogy, so win!
  5. Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston: I have had Soul of Stars for so long and I have put it on many a TBR. I really just need to bite the bullet and read finish this duology! I'm hoping to finish it this month!
  6. The Daevabad Trilogy by S.A. Chakraborty: Another really awesome series that I started and should have just marathoned but didn't.
  7. Cassidy Blake by Victoria Schwab: The first book was so dang good and middle grade is always quick to get through. I really don't have any excuses.
  8. Mirage by Somaiya Daud: Another duology with the second book just staring daggers at me.
  9. Serpent & Dove by Shelby Manurin: I think I would blow through the rest of this trilogy so dang quickly if I'd just pick it up. It's just 2 books.
  10. Wicked Villains by Katee Roberts: Honestly, I'm gonna blow through this entire series, pun not intended, because it's like a bag of chips in which I'm not hungry but will sit down and gorge myself with no regrets. I'm in the middle of book 3 right now and there are 7.

What series do you want to finish?

November 2022 TBR & Monthly Challenges

My favorite blurb, as always: In 2022, I'm continuing to participate in the Words & Whimsy Reading Challenge (new challenge each month - November is "Readers of the Lost ARC" theme). You sign up and are split into teams and finish books for points. They also have a mini game, photo challenge, and charity challenge to get points for your team as well.

October was a little nuts - 3 band competitions (this last weekend was so fun - kids took first place in their class and grand champion of the smaller classes - out of 16 bands!!), 3 football games, fall break, HOA meetings, board meetings, band booster meetings, after school rehearsals, doctor appts galore...I AM TIRED. The first few weeks of November are shaping up to be just as busy, but then it should quiet down some and I'm hoping to tackle some more ebooks and physical books rather than just audiobooks.

In October, I finished 10 books. 5 were on my TBR, so that's nice, but I am starting to stray from my TBR a bit and mood read a bit more. I may have to make shorter TBRs in the beginning of 2023 and allow myself to not feel guilty about the mood reading. I did make TBRs for November and December already so I'm hoping maybe I can stick to them. I think this month has a good mix of audio, ebook, and physical and that might work for me.

My TBR for November:
  • Soul of Stars by Ashley Poston (Hardcover - Purchased)
  • The Rains by Gregg Hurwitz (Kindle - Netgalley)
  • Buzz Books 2022: Romance by Publishers Lunch (Kindle - Netgalley)
  • Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo (Audio - Purchased)
  • Siege & Storm by Leigh Bardugo (Audio - Purchased)
  • Ruin & Rising by Leigh Bardugo (Audio - Purchased)
  • The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (Audio - Library)
  • Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte (Hardcover - Purchased)

2022 READING CHALLENGES: should be at 83%
Goodreads Challenge: 97/52 books - 186% COMPLETED 6/8
Series Challenge: 21/20 series - 105% COMPLETED 9/16
Netgalley Challenge: 18/13 books - 138% COMPLETED 6/8
Haul It Challenge: 32/30 books - 106% COMPLETED 8/23

What are you planning on reading in November?
