Guilty Reader Book Tag

This original tag was created by ReadLikeWildfire. I don't think that I am a very guilty reader. Just like how I am, in real life, I don't really feel like I have to hide what I think or feel about things -- and that includes books.

Have You Ever Regifted A Book That You’ve Been Given?

Regifted, no, but I have traded a book for something else when a step-grandparent-in-law got me a book I already had. I switched with my sister (in law) Kathleen for a shirt she didn't like but I did from the same person.

Series Challenge - Update #3

At the beginning of 2017 I was in the middle of 63 series. In March, I went through my TBR on Goodreads because it was over 3000 books and that is entirely too many. I decided to take some of the series off of my list because I was no longer interested in finishing the series and life is too short for subpar reads. In August, I went and removed a ton more books off my TBR and I'm around 1500 now - which is so much better than 3000!

As of 10/1...
I have finished 1 series (with all the books released up to Dec 31, 2018).
I have started 5 new series (and added 1 back on that I thought was done, but wasn't - whoops)
I have read 8 books in series

So not using math from the last update (because I'm sure all my adding and subtracting won't be correct), I am currently in the middle of 53 series.

You can check out my list of series books here. I will be back for my final update in January.

#FemPowerAThon

The FemPowerAThon is a week long readathon hosted by Taylor of Taylicious and Nicole of Nicole Craswell. It focuses on celebrating women! I went back in the archives a bit to find some books that were recommended in the previous FemPowerAThon that took place last spring and these three books are all ones I have on Kindle, so they seemed like the ones to go with :)

Updated on 10/16: I spent most of the week finishing I'll Give You the Sun  and I started A Wrinkle in Time but haven't made it through it as quickly as I have wanted. I read quite a bit of it yesterday but it's been a really hectic crazy week with lots of things not going how they should, so I haven't really been reading as much.

Total books finished: 0
Total pages read: 169 (I'll Give You the Sun) + 118 (A Wrinkle in Time)

September Book Haul

I decided to start sharing all the good books I'm picking up in month. One, just because, and two, because I think it may help me keep track of what books I am buying and remind me to READ THEM.

Book Review: Lumberjanes: Unicorn Power! by Mariko Tamaki

Publish Date: October 10, 2017
208 Pages [Kindle edition]
Published by Amulet Books

Synopsis:
Welcome to Miss Qiunzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet’s Camp for Hardcore Lady Types. The five scouts of Roanoke cabin—Jo, April, Molly, Mal, and Ripley—love their summers at camp. They get to hang out with their best friends, earn Lumberjane scout badges, annoy their no-nonsense counselor Jen . . . and go on supernatural adventures. That last one? A pretty normal occurrence at Miss Qiunzella’s, where the woods contain endless mysteries.

Today is no exception. When challenge-loving April leads the girls on a hike up the TALLEST mountain they’ve ever seen, things don’t go quite as planned. For one, they didn’t expect to trespass into the lands of the ancient Cloud People, and did anyone happen to read those ominous signs some unknown person posted at the bottom of the mountain? Also, unicorns.

This hilarious, rollicking adventure series brings the beloved Lumberjanes characters into a novel format with brand-new adventures.

#AYearAThon [October TBR]

Each first full week of the month, a #AYearAThon readathon is held and there are themes and challenges for each month. In the month of October, the theme is LGBTQIAP+ with the challenge of reading poetry and short stories. It runs from October 2 through 8.

I will not be attempting any poems or short stories, but I will be attempting to read 3 books because I'm insane. Last month, I struggled through one book all week, but I'm hoping the books I selected will be great reads. I think 2 of the 3 will be five star reads and the other will be a solid 4. In the three books combined, there is gay, lesbian, and trans representation.

Updated on 10/10: I didn't read nearly as much as I had hoped last week even though I am absolutely loving I'll Give You the Sun. I had a bit of an off week and I'm hoping to be back "on" this week, even though it is my big kids' fall break and it's already been packed full of activities. I actually didn't read at all over the weekend.

Total books finished: 0
Total pages read: 215 (I'll Give You the Sun)
