It's been a crazy week. I'm currently reading 2 books, which I never do. Both are for book clubs. I'm really not enjoying the one, Fates Will Find Their Way or something or another. It's written very poorly and it's annoying. The other, A Discovery of Witches, I've only gotten through a chapter so far, so no real opinion yet.
I finished up my Health class and only have my final left in Chemistry. I discovered on the Health class forum that apparently Coastline has a little window for grades that if you are within 5 points of a grade they will bump you up. I missed an A by 1 point in Health so that means it'll be bumped up to an A :) w00t. I still have around 5 chapters of Physiology & Anatomy, a quiz, and a final exam.
Matthew turned 4 on Friday. FOUR. My baby man :(( FOUR YEARS OLD.
And DLS happened and I lost a precious hour of sleep last night. I hate that. I love falling back an hour so I can gain an hour, but dang I hate losing an hour when we spring forward...guess it's for the best. Spring is only getting closer. Unfortunately it's been snowing all damn morning.
So...in the wee hours before Matthew's birthday I finished a book:
Dark Lover by J.R. Ward - it's book 1 of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series - I give it 5 stars.
Here's a quick synopsis: In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing their enemies more than Wrath, the leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood...
The only purebred vampire left on the planet, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But when one of his most trusted fighters is killed - orphaning a half-breed daughter unaware of her heritage or her fate - Wrath must usher the beautiful female into the world of the undead...
Racked by a restlessness in her body that wasn't there, Beth Randall is helpless against the dangerously sexy man who comes at night with shadows in his eyes. His tales of brotherhood and blood frighten her. But his touch ignites a dawning hunger that threatens to consume them both...
And my thoughts: I thoroughly enjoy new takes on the traditional vampire. I was a little confused in the beginning because there were so many things going on, but once it really got going, it was amazing. I like books that keep me curious - and I cannot wait to start the next in the series :)
Oh and one more thing too! I've been starting some cool things on my foodie blog and one of those is Sunday Social - it's a round-up of my favorite recipes that I've posted and ones floating around on the web :)
