Synopsis:
St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever

My Thoughts:
I love the whole world that is Vampire Academy. It's nice to have something new with the vampire mythology and stories every once in a while. After the failure that is the House of Night series, I was weary of reading another YA Vampire story. Especially one that has been around for a while and has such a following - same as the Marked series.

Rose is pretty bad ass. She's been guarding her best friend, Lissa, who is vampire royalty. They have formed a bond where Rose can feel what Lissa is feeling and sometimes can even "climb in her body" so to speak and see/hear what Lissa can. They left the "safety" of St. Vladimer's because Lissa was in danger...of what, Rose cannot remember. They are caught and hauled back to school. They have to re adapt to everything and stay out of trouble otherwise Rose will be expelled.

The story moved along at the perfect pace - there was a lot of excitement and I'm ready for the next installment and the movie too!

I was hesitant at first when I read VA too because I thought it would be just more of the same, but I quickly fell in love with it! I also love that they talk about going to Spokane WA in a few of the books because that's where I'm from. The rest of the books are super good! I've been wanting to re-read the series
